At DMCI Homes’ latest medium-rise project in Taguig City, Cedar Crest, unit buyers can come up with an efficient way to utilize space and maximize the benefits of a condo lifestyle.
Jocelyn Arcenas of The Environments Collaborative was tapped to create a design intent for the model units.
Following the development’s Neo-Asian minimalist theme, the model unit is rendered as a classic example of how variety can infuse character, function, and comfort in the interiors of a unit.
"As a model unit, we have to show its flexibility for the different users," Arcenas said
According to Arcenas, there are many factors that can be used as a design concept to make the unit stand out, among them the choice of furniture, wall features, color schemes, and textures, among others.
"At Cedar Crest, we presented two different model units derived from the concept of Neo-Asian minimalism but using a different approach based on the lifestyle of its users."
The 49.5 sqm 2-bedroom model unit is designed after the theme "beauty in simplicity", created for start-up families or single professionals who can enjoy the practical size and comfort of this unit type. Color schemes, furniture pieces, textures, and accessories were carefully selected by designer to capture the personality of the model unit’s potential resident/s.
Function and aesthetic combine for the modern and cozy comfort that is apparent in all the living spaces of the model unit. The living room uses comfortable furniture in soothing tones, blending well with the modern pieces such as a floor lamp that doubles as lighting source and accent. With no dividers, the living area flows into the dining area, creating an illusion of space inside the unit. The two bedrooms also stand out for their individual appeal, with the first bedroom highlighted by a four-poster bed while the second bedroom is an attractive area that offers efficient spaces for rest and function.
"Elegance in austerity" is the concept used for the 45 sqm 2-bedroom model unit, serving as an ideal sanctuary to support the lifestyle of growing families. An opulent display of contemporary living is captured through a streamlined design of furniture, enhanced by interesting pieces such as a blue accent wall, modern droplights and a wall décor in chrome in the dining area.
The clean, uncluttered, and sophisticated look extends to the bedrooms, the highlight of which is a black and white mural framed by dark panels at the center of the master’s bedroom.
"Condo units usually require custom-built furniture, but because of the generous unit sizes at Cedar Crest, residents can opt to use standard size furniture and furnishings. The unit owner will have the confidence in furnishing their space since we have visualized this for them," Arcenas said.
Compared to other developments’ model units which often turn out to be over-furnished and upgraded from their original turn-over finish, Cedar Crest uses a true lived-in look as a creative approach that can influence prospective buyers about the project’s viability and advantages over the competition.
Cedar Crest is composed of 10 five-storey condominium buildings set within an expanse of 3.8 hectares. It is designed for newly-weds, start-up or growing families, working or professional parents with one or two kids, and young urban professionals working in BGC, and the central business districts of Makati and Ortigas. The project is accessible via C-5 Road and is a few minutes away from BGC, the Makati CBD, leisure hubs such as Market! Market!, Bonifacio High Street, and Greenbelt ; prestigious schools and hospitals, and even Manila ’s airport terminals.
